I have a friend that works at REI so I can get a discount, I have been feeling guilty about having so much while others had nothing and thought I would love to call it a bout of altruism that has driven me it is more about my excessive spending on myself that drove my choice. I went to see my friend at work because she had wanted to meet up for lunch, she was having to skip lunch in favor of that small amount of overtime. I looked around the store and found a dry bag that is slightly larger and better than my current, I have been wanting a new bag and it was a good deal so I picked one off of the shelf, I remembered the case of my homeless friend that I buy the Swishers for and how his things get wet when it rains and decided to grab one for him as well. He is currently in the hospital for treatment of his mental health issues combined with a drug addiction that he working to kick, they were only about $25 per and there were maybe 20 on the shelf, I pulled off 10 and threw them into a cart to help others that needed them. In the end I had gotten tents, jackets, tarps, a few sleeping bags, and a ton of other things that I thought someone might need. I am packing up bags to go hand out to those most in need which includes a massive amount of emergency food stores but the very last thing i did buy was lunch for my friend since she had to skip lunch for work. Sadly I cannot buy my way out of feeling guilty for what I do have.

 

Drawer pulls. Damn things run 8 - 12 bucks each. Plus I have to drill an extra hole because the last ones were single pulls. I lost count on the number of drawers and cabinets in this place, but it was <and still is> a ton of money to turn everything from gold to brushed nickel. SWMBO's even talking of changing out the ceiling fans from Hunter Original gold fans to brushed nickel. I don't think so, but I've been over ruled in the past. The door handles will get replaced next. Maybe the whole doors too with solid fir doors. I kinda began running out of money when building this house, and used the hollow doors for inside. So 28 years later, changing them out, I'd bet it's 4 times the cost. Shoulda done it right the first time.

 

I bought three pots that I did not really need. I will donate one to the charity I do volunteer work for and keep the other two. They are better than the pots I already had.

Several dozen pairs of gloves... some to donate to a local shelter, and some to send to family & friends whom I won’t be able to see at Christmas. I’ll put a gift card in them... I’m not sending larger presents because I HATE paying more in postage costs than I paid for the item I’m sending!
