President Obama's most loyal constituency is blacks. This is understandable. The President is not the Marxist - Muslim-born-in-Kenya-who-wants-the-terrorists-to-win-and-who-hates-whites that the Republican Hate Machine claims him to be. Nevertheless, he has been insensitive to how his behavior is perceived by whites, especially the lower income whites who used to be a loyal Democratic constituency. This has made him vulnerable to the demagoguery of the Republican Hate Machine.

He knows how it feels to be suspected of being a potential criminal simply because one is a young black man. He lacks understanding and sympathy for why the suspicion exists. He, and other liberals, should ponder the following statement by Jesse Jackson: "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved."

Being a victim of one or more black street criminals is a valuable learning experience for a liberal. Some liberals need several lessons.

No I don't. I've heard Glen Beck speak, I've have never heard of Lars Larson. I travel mostly by motorcycle, and need my hearing to help in keeping me aware of current road and traffic conditions, so very rarely try to listen to the radio. I live in a very rural area, so the few times I drive my car I don't listen to the radio, we don't get very good reception out here. However I do play talk radio on my motorcycle radio when I ride in high deer congested areas. Deer are used to traffic sounds, but the human voice gets their attention immediately and they tend to freeze in place until I go by. It does not matter to the deer if it's NPR or not, but since my reception of NPR is pretty good I tend to have that on.

 

He wasn't even in office a year when 9/11 happened. He took office in January of 2001...

In a memo from the Phoenix FBI to headquarters, the agents recommended an urgent nationwide review of flight schools "for any information that supports Phoenix's suspicions" of a terrorist connection. The memo reportedly cited Osama bin Laden by name...

At least three eyewitnesses spotted al Qaeda hijackers casing the security checkpoints at Boston’s Logan Airport months before the 9/11 attacks. They saw something and said something — but were ignored, newly unveiled court papers reveal.

One of the witnesses, an American Airlines official, actually confronted hijacking ringleader Mohamed Atta after watching him videotape and test a security checkpoint in May 2001 — four months before he boarded the American Airlines flight that crashed into the World Trade Center.

The witness alerted security, but authorities never questioned the belligerent Egyptian national or flagged him as a threat.

Bill Clinton, Hours Before 9/11 Attacks: 'I Could Have Killed' Osama bin Laden

Hours before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, former President Bill Clinton told an audience in Australia about his missed chance to kill attack mastermind Osama bin Laden, according to audio released this week.

Clinton was speaking at a business meeting in Melbourne when the topic turned to terrorism.

“I’m just saying, you know, if I were Osama bin Laden ... He’s a very smart guy. I spent a lot of time thinking about him. And I nearly got him once,” Clinton said in the audio, which was recorded by former Liberal Party head Michael Kroger and aired by Sky News.

“I nearly got him. And I could have killed him, but I would have had to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him.

“And so I didn’t do it.”

Hours after Clinton spoke, a hijacked Boeing 767 slammed into the north tower of New York City’s World Trade Center. A second plane struck the south tower 18 minutes later. Other planes crashed in Washington, D.C., and western Pennsylvania. The attacks, organized by bin Laden, killed more than 3,000 people.

Clinton’s recorded statements from 2001 referred to a proposed strike in December 1998, after intelligence indicated that Bin Laden was staying at the governor’s residence in Kandahar. That proposed attack was addressed in the 9/11 Commission Report, released in 2004.

According to the report, the missed chance made some lower-level officials angry, but later intelligence appeared to show that bin Laden had left his quarters.

“The principals’ wariness about ordering a strike appears to have been vindicated: Bin Laden left his room unexpectedly, and if a strike had been ordered he would not have been hit,” the commission wrote.

U.S. officials again considered a missile strike against bin Laden in May 1999 -- but, as was the case months before, they held back from striking, wary of conflicting intelligence reports. That skepticism may have been bolstered by the CIA’s accidental bombing on the Chinese embassy in Belgrade during the NATO war against Serbia, the commission said.

“This episode may have made officials more cautious than might otherwise have been the case,” the commission’s report stated.

From May 1999 until September 2001, authorities did not again actively consider a missile strike against Bin Laden.

Bin Laden was eventually killed in a 2011 raid by U.S. Special Forces in Pakistan.

The grandparents of lower income whites used to be Democrats.
Richard Nixon used fear of crime(dirty hippies, drugs, and race riots) to corral the white lower and middle class into the Republican Party.

The last person who attempted to steal from me was a white man in a Dodge truck. Ever since, I have been very suspicious of Dodge trucks.

 

As long as you're looking in your rear view mirror, keep backing up, right past 2001 and keep going to 1998 till you're on Clinton's Whitehouse front lawn. Then maybe wear a path back and forth between then and December of 2000, seeing if you see who had the opportunities.

 

What happened to the year and a half claim?? Is it now not relevant because Bush was not in office yet?

Did you actually read that article? They were 99% certain (my words) that any potential attack was going to take place outside of the US, against US interests. Wow, that sure is clear they were going to hijack/commandeer four jumbo jet passenger planes and fly them into four specific targets within the US, right?

I cannot easily document this. Nevertheless, I suspect that whites in Dodge trucks have a fairly low crime rate.

The white counter culture, and the new left were irritants to lower middle class whites. Black crime and black ghetto riots were serious threats.

Anyway, the BJS report also reveals that 89.5% of the offenders in homicides are MALE, only 10.5% are FEMALE.
And get this; 49% of the offenders were under 25!

Bigger differentiators than race. Course, DL wouldn't want to point that out himself.

That same report noted that 2/3 rds of all homicides with black offenders were drug related.

If these norms (of the time periods they are relevant to) remained unchanged until the present, Christians would likely practice a fearsome liturgy.

 

Fundamentalist Christians may disapprove of some of the same behaviors as Muslims do, but they leave the judgement up to God.

Gays? Christians refuse to participate in their wedding ceremonies, but not delivering cakes or snapping photos. Muslims have public executions in soccer stadiums.

Intolerance to other religions? Christians say if you aren't a true believing Christian you will go to hell when you die. Muslims will kill you to send you on your way. Not just nut jobs in the street, but the government of some countries put apostates on trial and execute them. You don't see Christians doing that.

and women? It's like the captain and the executive officer of a ship. The XO is the captain's closest adviser and is trusted to run the place, but when a final decision has to be made, it's up to the captain. Christianity also teaches men to love and protect their wives as Christ doe his flock, IOW to to point of putting their own lives on the line. Muslims put women in prison for being raped. Everything is one way, there is no hint of partnership.

In general, Christians are taught to use persuasion to get people in line with God, but are also taught that there are always those that will despise and mock them. The reward comes later. Muslims believe in bringing Heaven to Earth, and anyone who isn't with the program must be eliminated.
