Bibimbap and Tiramisu for dessert

 

There was leftover spanish rice, but no leftover chicken, so I browned some ground beef in similar spices and stirred in the rice.

It seemed to need a little salt, and I'd usually put some romano on top, but I was out. I remembered reading somewhere that often when you think something needs salt, it actually needs citrus, and I had half a lemon left from the meal kit, so I added the juice. Perfect! I will keep that trick in mind in the future.

Spaghetti! Spaghetti rigate in meat sauce, specifically.

Chicken & Wild Rice soup with Bacon Mac N Cheese.

 

Chicken parm, done my way, on homemade pasta.

This pasta was made at a ratio of three-quarter/one-quarter blend, 00 fine flour to semolina flour.

I can say there’s a difference. What I can’t say is that the difference means anything in the grand scheme of things for me. The dough turned out a smidge more silky but needed water to get to the right consistency, and I find all-purpose flour doesn’t. Does that matter? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did it taste better? No. I don’t think it did. I actually find the AP pasta has more … tooth. Body. Something.

So I’ve got the rest of this dough to get through, and maybe I’ll change my mind? But I doubt it.

I’ll definitely use the flour I bought, but I will also be quite content to make my own pasta from AP flour.

Homemade chicken Alfredo

 

Fried catfish with cole slaw and fried dill pickles.

 

It will be Raclette at 7.30

 

Pork sirloin roast with mashed potatoes and gravy.

 

Started to make Salisbury steaks, mixed the meat, eggs, cracker crumbs, spices, etc and thought, damn this looks like a good meatloaf.

So. We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy and green beans. It was great.

 

Salmon on rice

 

Last night we ordered pizza. Traditional crust. One pepperoni and extra cheese, one half sausage and half meatball.

Tonight, cheeseburgers and curly fries.

Why, yes, many things we have for dinner were on the lunch menu at my elementary school. So what?

 

Campari tomatoes roasted in olive oil, kosher salt and cracked pepper, baked potato with melted cheddar and rich sour cream, rare filet mignon. Simple but exquisite flavours.

This was the kind of meal that should earn me … sexual favours.
